Federal rules limit post-accident drug and alcohol testing for commercial truck drivers to certain crashes, such as those involving a fatality, or a citation along with an injury that needs treatment away from the scene or a disabling tow-away, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration<\/a>. Under 49 C.F.R. \u00a7 390.15<\/a>, motor carriers must maintain an accident register for 3 years after the date of each accident. Early records from the trucking company can matter for this reason.<\/p>\n
